Golf Tournament 2016
Cockermouth Golf Club generous hosts for the Rotary tournament.
All 18 holes attracted sponsoring support when the Rotary Club of Cockermouth held its annual tournament at Cockermouth Golf course in September 2016.
Rotarian Jimmy Wood said: "We had a tremendous response from local businesses who supported us by sponsoring a hole or by providing top quality raffle prizes. And it is a fantastic gesture from Cockermouth Golf Club and its members who support us every year. All 18 holes were sponsored..for the first time ever...during the history of our competition." 120 golfers took part in a four player team competition which was open to ladies, men and juniors. The day raised £1509 funds to assist the club in its charitable activities.
After a bit of a damp start the weather
improved and most players were able to enjoy a rain free round
in fairly warm conditions.

6th - P. Hargreaves / A. Hefford / R. Morgan / G. Mcdermott
In addition John Howell from Keswick had a hole-in-one at the
17th hole. The prize for the men's longest drive was won by
Oliver Lucey, and the prize for the Ladies drive nearest the
line was won by Sheila McMurtie.

The Club made its initial donation of £3,000 towards furnishings and essentials for the Henderson Suite at West Cumberland Hospital. President Andy Carter here presents the initial donation to Dr Jonathan Nicoll and Sister Dawn Sanderson.

In 2019 again some 70 enjoyed a very successful Senior Citizens Party with Rotarians providing a Christmas feast for many who might otherwise have missed out on festive fare.

Over 25,000 enjoy Taste Cumbria weekends and Club members were out in force in 2019 selling the Rotary calendar for cockermouth and helping with the park and ride service
