Carnforth Rotary has enjoyed several evenings of talks by members. The most recent being “My Life So Far” by new member Mike Moon.
Mike was born in Somerset where he had an idyllic childhood which consisted of chasing around, as boys do, fishing, playing cowboys and indians as well as living dangerously riding home made bogeys under steam engines. He was taught how to shoot, taking full responsibility for safety when in possession of a 12 bore. He was a train spotting enthusiast, reminiscing about his adventures on the Great Western Railway which promoted his interest in all things steam.
He was also very interested in sport, including cricket and running.
As a teenager he stayed in Lyme Regis where he helped a boat owner fish for mackerel.
His interest in eyes stemmed from discovering he has an eye condition. From there, he began training in Optics where he went on to become a manger for Dolland and Aitcheson.
He met & married his wife, Sandra, and has two girls.
He is very interested in using colour therapy to help children who have problems reading black text on white backgrounds.
Mike is a man of many interests, which now include Scuba diving and sailing a Canal boat.
