The speaker at our meeting on Thursday 15 August was our own member Linda Lambson. The title of her illustrated talk was ‘Snapshot of New Zealand 2024’. For this long planned trip, Linda flew to Auckland with two friends. They toured from there to the north using ferries. To meet her brother and his wife the next stage was to fly to Christchurch on South Island. Together they toured the east coast by car visiting many places on the way to Dunedin. Riding the Trans Alpine railway, Greymouth a gold rush town was an interesting place to visit and from there a moving on to snow covered Mount Cook where a visit was made to the Sir Edmund Hilary Alpine Centre. Reuniting with her two friends the next stage was to move on to Te Anau, take a cruise on Milford Sound and visit Queenstown.
For some members Linda’s many photos were brought back good memories of their stay in New Zealand and showed us all what a beautiful country she had had the opportunity to visit.
