Concert and Cakes
Royal Northern College of Music concerts in Burton in Lonsdale
Christine Wardle was our speaker at our meeting on Thursday, 4th January. Christine worked at the Royal Northern College of Music and came into contact with many student musicians. She and her husband moved to her Burton-in-Lonsdale home after renovating what was originally bought as a holiday home. Inspired by the late Dr Christopher Rowland [head of chamber music at RNCM] Chrisitine had the idea that she could help students get experience performing in front of an audience if she could establish regular concert events in the village. The name decided on for the event was Concert and Cakes. The concerts provide an opportunity for audiences to experience a wide range of music genres. Christine said the cakes were an incentive which was much appreciated. The concert series is now well established.
