80th Charter

Yesterday evening, Carnforth Rotary celebrated its 80th birthday at Pine Lake, Carnforth. We were joined by family and friends, including Rotarians from Furness Peninsula, Kendal, Leyland, Lunesdale, Penrith and Ulverston, also ladies from Inner Wheel and Townswomen Guild.

Throughout the evening there was lots of lively chatter and bursts of laughter, only subduing when the food was served.

After the meal, President George, entertained us with facts from 1946 which jogged the memories of a few people. District Governor, Annette Ramsden, then presented President George with a certificate acknowledging our 80 years of service.

This was followed by Guest speaker, Sian Wilson, who gave an extremely fascinating talk about pre-birth brain development along with MRI scan images. We were not very good at guessing the ages of the brain, which caused great amusement.

President George rounded off the evening by presenting gifts to DG Annette, speaker Sian and President Elect Linda.

We would like to thank everyone who joined us or sent best wishes for the evening. We would also like to say a special thank you to the staff at Pine Lake, who made us very welcome and served up the excellent meal.
