Carnforth Rangers

This evening, Carnforth Rotarians were entertained by Georgina Griffiths with tales of the Rangers’ Trip to London and all the exciting things they were involved in.
Rangers are girls aged between 14 and 18, coming from from Silverdale, Holme, Burton and Morecambe to meet at Carnforth Scout Hut.
The girls stayed at Pax Lodge, one of the five World Centres of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), located in Hampstead, northwest London. The other World Centres are in Mexico, India, Switzerland and Africa.
During their stay, they experienced the London Underground and bus rides to Camden Town and the Natural History Museum.
They also took on the Harry Potter Challenge, where they had to provide evidence to show they had undertaken all the challenges.
Whilst there, they were able to receive special badges which are only available at World Centres.
The grand finale was to see Starlight Express, the musical, at Wembley Park.
Georgina then explained about the everyday running of the Association, where everyone is encouraged to earn a wide range of badges by using different life skills. The Red Rose Camp is held at the Westmorland County Show ground and is attended by many international youngsters and leaders. The Silver Sapling site at Silverdale has many activities, including soft archery and soft axe throwing.
