The Rotary Club of Thornhill and District held their annual firework display on Saturday 2nd November 2019 at Thornhill Community Centre. This is an event that we all look forward to, there is a lot of organising and preparation that goes into it before the event itself and of course the clearing up afterwards but it is well worth it when you meet and see the local community with their children enjoying the evening.
This year the weather was certainly kinder to us and as usual the local community, family and friends came out in their hundreds to support us and enjoy the fantastic display in safety, the gates opened at 5:30 pm in preparation for the fireworks at 6:30pm. Whilst waiting the crowd participated in the raffle tried their luck in the games and viewed the various side stalls while enjoying a burger and hot chocolate.
Again this year proved to be a great success, our suppliers provided us with a fantastic firework display but more than that a huge thank you goes out to the local community and our sponsors because without their support we could not host this popular annual community event.
We have got to stress that an organised event like ours is the best and safest way to view fireworks, our event is fully licensed and insured, our team are safety trained by the suppliers to set off the fireworks, St Andrews first aiders and the police are in attendance, we advise and work along the local fire department, and local residents are given notice of the event to alleviate any stress caused to themselves, children and pets.
This year our main supporters include: Thornhill Community Council, Thornhill Community Centre, Thomson Foodservice, Marchbank the Bakers and Thomas Tosh.
All proceeds after costs go to supporting Local, Community, National and International Causes.
