The Rotary Club of Thornhill and District joined forces with The Crawick Multiverse Trust on Sunday 5th May 2019, to raise funds for Maggie’s Cancer Care Centres.
Crawick Multiverse, is an exciting land art site, created by world renowned land artist Charles Jencks, opened for visitors under Scotland’s Garden scheme, on the same day as the region’s most famous private garden and home of the Jencks family, Portrack near Dumfries, also hosted a one-off opening to the public as a major fundraiser for Maggie’s.
With winter maintenance now completed, the Multiverse Team look forward to welcoming familiar faces and new visitors to the exceptional 55 acre site in the heart of Upper Nithsdale.
The Crawick Multiverse is a hidden gem nested in a bowl of rolling hills in the heart of Dumfries and Galloway (Upper Nithsdale).
This major land restoration project, on the Duke of Buccleuch’s Queensberry Estate has transformed a former open cast coal mine into a spectacular artland and public amenity.
The ecology of the site, and the materials found within it, inspired its design which is based around space, astronomy and cosmology.
Today the site is cared for by the Crawick Artland Trust, a charity registered in Scotland (SCO39940). By visiting, you are helping preserve and maintain Crawick Multiverse for the present and for future generations to come.
