The Rotary Club of Thornhill and District recently held a street collection and a film screening to help eradicate Polio.
The film "Breath" was screened in Closeburn community village hall later in the afternoon and evening following the collection. The film is an inspirational and highly emotional celebration of bravery and human possibility follows the life of Robin Cavendish (Andrew Garfield - Hacksaw Ridge) and his wife Diana (Claire Foy - The Crown), an adventurous and determined couple who refuse to give up when Robin contracts polio and is given just months to live.
Once again a huge thank you goes out to the general public of Thornhill and district for their generosity and continued support, during the day we managed to take in a total of £806.75. We are continuing with the appeal by selling the Purple4Polio chocolates for donations and are already planning further screenings of the film in other locations in the area.
