Saturday 11th August 2018 Sheila, myself along with 16 others give up their time in order to climb Criffel to raise funds for "Catherine Street Inclusive Play Park" the weather was extremely kind to us on the day and we all made the ascent and descent without incurring any injuries except for the odd sore feet and aching muscles.
CATHERINE STREET INCLUSIVE PLAY PARK
Community group improving the park
Who are we? We are a small group of volunteer parents and local people who are working to improve the park at Catherine Street in Dumfries. Why are we doing this? Because we believe that inclusion is important for all our children and young people. What are we doing? We will improve the access into the park, create safe pathways through the trees, have sociable seating and install inclusive play equipment. When will this happen? We hope improvements to the park will be completed sometime between spring and summer 2019.
A group of parents with disabled children have been working alongside local families to look at how Catherine Street can be made as inclusive as possible. 'Include Us' is the charity which has been created to move the project forward so that many more children can share and enjoy the park. Please like our page and share with your friends and family to spread the word. We would love to see a development like this in every town in Dumfries and Galloway....lets make it happen for all our children!
