Alan joins the Rotary club
At an induction ceremony held recently at Thornhill and District Rotary club, Alan Nisbet was presented to the club. Alan is the estate manager at the Queensberry Estate, a position he has held since July last year. Earlier he had been based in Kelso, managing farms and estates in the south of Scotland, Fife and the Lothians.
President Trevor Baxter gave Alan a brief history of the Rotary movement, informing him of its origins, its significance around the world and the impact it has in areas such as the eradication of polio and disaster relief while not forgetting its place locally where it is involved with schools, helping local groups and staging events such as the fireworks night.
Alan enjoys hill walking, golf and field sports and now with his involvement in the Rotary club he says: “I have been made most welcome in recent weeks when I have visited the club. The contribution the club makes to local and global concerns is impressive and I look forward to taking part in the various activities.”
