South West area Rotary Golf competition

The Rotary Club of Thornhill and District recently hosted the South West area Rotary Golf competition

The Rotary Club of Thornhill recently hosted the South West area Rotary Golf competition which was played over the challenging Thornhill course. Thirty players representing six Rotary clubs throughout Dumfries and Galloway participated in this annual event.

The winner of the individual trophy was John Carpenter of the Lockerbie club whilst the Kirkcudbright club triumphed in the team competition winning the John Kenny trophy.

The trophies were presented to the winners by Rotary International District 1020 Assistant Governor Ian Jess.

Thornhill Rotarian Ed Hunter who organised the event with assistance from Rotarian Jack Buckham said ‘We had an excellent representation from clubs throughout the area. Unusually for this summer we enjoyed pleasant weather on the day and the golfers commented most favourably on the excellent condition of the Thornhill course.

We look forward to visiting Newton Stewart who will host the event in 2016.’
