Ailsa Repeats Young Chef Success in 2014

Ailsa Morton Young Chef 2013 beats off the opposition again in 2014 with Duck and Chocolate Towers
Ailsa Morton of Wallace Hall Academy repeated her success of 2013 with a hard earned but ultimately successful defence of her title Young Chef of the Year in the Thornhill & District Rotary Club 2014 Competition.
A recipe of Duck & Feathered Chocolate Towers caught the eye of Judge and Head Chef at the Cally Hotel, Jamie Muirhead, in a strong contest against Taragon Chicken & Goats Cheese Souffle; Penne pasta & Lime Cheesecake, Beef Florentine & Lemon Syllabub; and Pasta Bolognese & Lemon Roulade.
Jamie, an ex WHA pupil himself, commented that it was a very difficult decision and that he had paid good money for much worse food than had been produced in this hot contest. He also especially commended the atmosphere of comararderie in the kitchen in spite of all the pressure.
Rotarian Kirsty Bowie thanked all the contestants for their efforts, the judge and the sponsors who had made such a valuable contribution to our competition. After being observed in an extensive sampling session, she was last seen negotiating a contract for a new cook at home.
Thornhill & District Rotary Club wishes to thank WHA and Miss Wilson for their help in organising the event and the Burnside Tearoom Sanquhar for their generous sponsorship of equipment and prizes for the contestants.
