Impressario extraordinaire Gordon ( now open to offers if the oil ever runs out ) scoured the world for Christmas Cabaret acts to fill the Rotary Christmas entertainment slot.
Sadly Tom Paxton had to pull out at the last minute ( whilst Jingle Bells was some sort of substitute ) but the Comic Plumber, The Philosopher, and the Old Duo all gave it the full wally to the enthusiastic appreciation of the Club.
After an avalanche of one liners from Ian, Brian gave a fine example of his Speaker's Club art with a truly reflective ( reminiscent of the Dickensian tales) story about his first solo Christmas shopping trip. Good to have him back.
The Two Coggers out performed even the Ronnies ( not the Crays one has to say ) with a limerick strewn tale from the 23rd Limerick Convention and a stumbling pub chat that had everyone waiting on every punch line.
With a well received refusal by onother songbird to deliver football songs the evening finished with Jingle Bells that at least some could remember the words.
This format is now so greatly appreciated that woebetide the Club Service convenor that tries to change it.
