The Thornhill and District Club recently hosted the Rotary International District 1020 Young Golfer of the Year competition for 2011. The event which was held at Thornhill Golf Club had been postponed on two occasions in 2011 due to flooding on the course. Eighteen clubs participated with 34 young golfers teeing off. The teams represented clubs from South and East Scotland. The winner of the Scratch completion was Louis Fenn representing the Dunbar Club with a score of 76, while Jamie Armour of the Larbert club triumphed in the Handicap competition. In the team events, Kilsyth won the Scratch completion and the Linlithgow Grange young golfers took the Handicap trophy.
