Putting competition and Hook a Duck

Rhyl Rotary Club at St Asaph Country Fayre Following two rainy days it was with some foreboding that we assembled our stall at our designated pitch on the field. Although the forecast was for a clear day it was overcast and initially quite breezy. Having carefully erected the gazebo to our satisfaction the wind had other ideas: it now resides in a skip! The rest of the day was more encouraging and as the day progressed the weather brightened and the attendance improved, as did the interest in the various ‘challenges’ we had on offer. As always, the ‘Hook a Duck’ attracted the tiny tots, some of whom fared better without the help of their parents! The putting challenge beat all-comers, including some seasoned golfers. The £5 note locked in a box was won just once – by a Rotarian’s wife! (an Inner Wheel officer). And yes, some full bottles of wine were discovered amongst the empties. So this proved to be an enjoyable and profitable day, raising the profile of Rotary as well as money.
