Visit to Parliament
ROTARY CLUB OF RHYL
Sitting in the public gallery to see and hear the iconic weekly PMQs was among the highlights of a recent 36 hour guided tour of the Houses of Parliament, speaker Gareth Davies, the club’s youngest member, revealed in a talk at Faenol Fawr.
His absorbing visits to both the Lords and Commons chambers, together with nearby Westminster Hall and the impressive recently completed Portcullis House, accommodating 213 MPs, were other memorable experiences packed into his exciting trip, he added.
The thanks of the club were expressed to the speaker by President Mike Parry, who earlier again reminded members of the continuing and urgent challenge to attract new members.
In calling for a renewed push, he suggested they should all broaden their search by bearing in mind that both men and women were of equal potential worth in the vital quest to secure Rotary’s future.
Social Secretary Mike Howarth announced that in addition to the evening meal visit to Llandrillo College in March, he confirmed that the repeat trip to the popular Bangor-on-Dee Race meeting would take place on Saturday April 16 and be open to wives, partners and friends.
