Environment group

A group of Rotarians work on local play parks, gardens and grounds to improve our environment.

The Rotary Environmental team was established in late 2021 and we currently have 7 active members with a wide range of skills and knowledge. Much has been achieved in a relatively short timescale bringing many improvements to various  amenities across Dalmeny Village and South Queensferry .

The highlights include : new flower  planters for Dalmeny Village green.  The renovation of the Echline Primary School Memorial garden. The development of a new garden for QCCC at the Haven. The refurbishment of  the " Guardian of the Bridges" sculpture, a makeover to the front of the former Council building on the High Street and clear up of the Roseberry Hall garden.

The team get significant pleasure from seeing the tangible results from all their hard work regularly supported by the local Greenferry team and we know from feedback these initiatives are greatly appreciated by members of our community whilst also giving the club excellent PR.

The Echline Primary School Memorial garden had become rather untidy and  overgrown over the summer months. So a small environmental team  comprising Neil, Brian and Matt recently got stuck in and completed a great tidy up of the garden over a morning  trimming shrubs , weeding and sorting out the gravel that had become scattered about. The new Head Teacher Victoria Fair was delighted with the outcome and confirmed that the garden is still being very well used by the children and  a number of youngsters with additional support needs particularly enjoy spending time in the garden." The "before and after" photos show  the nature of the work undertaken which filled three large sacks of vegetation.
