Llandudno Rotary is proud to announce a new year of its Community Chest.

The opportunity arises for local organisations to apply to the Club for a grant of between £100 and £500 to assist with their community activities.

These grants are designed for the many small local volunteering groups such as sports teams, expressive arts facilities, after school and breakfast clubs or scout/guide/cub/brownie groups, all of whose community work is indispensable.

We've tried to make it easy to apply and it's for anyone operating in the LL30 and LL31 postcodes.

Community Chest Grants Policy – 2024 round  the rules

This policy sets out the Rotary Club of Llandudno policy and procedures for administering the 2024 round of our Community Chest Awards.

Grants can be awarded to voluntary and charitable organisations and individuals that provide or propose to provide a service fo the  benefit of, the community within the LL 30 and LL 31 post code area. Any such organisation must be of a  non commercial nature.

Please note that the Rotary Club of Llandudno has limited funds available for awarding of grants. The awarding of the grants and the amount of funding allocated is at the discretion of Rotary Club of Llandudno.

WHO CAN APPLY

The following may apply for grant aid:

(a)   A Llandudno based club, association, charity serving a specific section of the community with in the Post code LL30 or  LL31

(b)   A resident of post code LL30 or  LL31 requesting a grant for a project or event, which will benefit their community 

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR A GRANT

We look for evidence of:

(a)   A charitable, benevolent, social, cultural, recreational or philanthropic purpose and a non commercial ethos

(b)   A clear financial need and a request for a specific sum in the range of £100 to £500

(c)   A specific brief on how the money will be spent

(d)   Any financial history and constitution of your organisation (if you have it). We want to minimise formality but we need to know you’re genuine

NEW ORGANISATIONS AND INDIVIDUALS

If the applicant is a new organisation, or about to form, and does not have accounts or bank statements yet, or if you are applying as an individual, set out why you feel we should treat you as a reliable recipient of funds

WHAT WILL NOT NORMALLY BE FUNDED

(a)    Schools - LEA funded or  private

(b)    Upward funding for groups whose fund raising is sent for distribution and not spent locally

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER YOU APPLY.

Your application form will be checked along with any enclosed documents to see if it is  complete. If not. We may contact you for additional information, which has to be with us by the closing date specified below, so apply in good time, in case we need more information.

All application forms will then be considered by the Community Chest sub-committee, who will grant the  Awards. All applicants, successful or otherwise, will be advised of the outcome.

 

 GRANTS WILL BE ASSESSED ON THE BASIS OF

(a)   The completed application form

(b)   How your group is set up and managed

(c)   Your finances and financial need for funding

(d)   Whether your  project provides value for money

(e)   Your group being a non-profit organisation

(f)    Your project requiring a one off payment (as opposed to a project needing funding in future years)

(g)   You have got or will have in place the correct level of insurance

(h)   The grant is to be used only for the project outlined in the application

  CONDITIONS OF GRANT

(a)    Grants must be used within twelve months of receiving

(b)    Grants must not be distributed to any other organisation

(c)    Prior approval of the Rotary club is required if any change of purpose of the grant is required.

(d)    Should for any reason the organisation disband during the period of the grant the Rotary club may ask for all/part of the monies to be paid back

(e)    If your application is successful, Llandudno Rotary may wish to use your project for publicity.

(f)     No award will be made where spending has taken place prior to approval

(g)    The grant is a one-off sum to a maximum of £500 with no further commitment to future funding.

               Applications to be submitted by           31st July 2024

               Applicants notified of the outcome      31st August 2024
