Death of Llandudno Rotary President Alan Guinn

Rotary is in mourning for our beloved President Alan Guinn. Alan, who died 15th May 2023.  had been unwell for a time but his departure has come as a shock to us all

The funeral is at St Paul's Vraig y Don at 1.45 pm on 6th June 2023

Alan joined Rotary in 2005. He served as President in 2009/10 and again in 2015/16. It is a testament to Alan‘s embodiment of the Rotary moto “Service Above Self” that he agreed to be our President for a third time in 2022, despite his indifferent health

This selfless service was recognised by the Club when Alan was surprised to be presented with a Paul Harris Fellowship at the Charter Night he was hosting just six weeks ago

Alan was the instigator and organiser of various Rotary ventures such as “Youth Speaks”, “Great Day Out” (entertaining Belarussian and Ukrainian children holiday-makers who were being hosted by the Chernobyl Childline North Wales)  and latterly the Club’s Community Chest Award Scheme

Alan’s ready wit and easy charm made him a magnet as a companion and friend not just to Rotarians but anyone who knew Alan through any of the myriad local organisations that benefitted from his involvement

Alan is a past Llandudno Town Councillor and Mayor and many will also know Alan through his football and wider sporting connections. Alan played for Manchester City as a young man and retained his interest and involvement in the game

We send our heart-felt best wishes to Alan’s wife Brenda and to their children and grandchildren
