The basic ethos of Ysgol Ffordd Dyffryn, Llandudno, situated near the Llandudno’s West Shore, is enshrined in their vision.
“Inspire, Aspire, Make a difference”
The school’s mission statement is to create a happy, caring and secure environment in which each child will develop their skills and talents to the full. A simple statement maybe, but if a child has a personal challenge, such as autism, achieving this can sometimes be difficult, and calls on special professional patience, expertise and equipment to bring an autistic child into feeling s/he is part of the mainstream educational environment.
One of the ways YFD tackles this is by running a successful dedicated Autistic Spectrum Disorder Resource Base that works to give the pupils positive experiences within education. The objective is to help children within the Conwy local education area to cope within a class-room, so that they can then return the child to mainstream schooling.
Llandudno Rotary is proud to assist in this work by donating £1,000 to the Resource Base to purchase IT equipment suited to the needs of autistic children.
