Members and guests were pleased to welcome Ann Webb, new Headteacher of Ysgol John Bright, Llandudno, at their meeting on 7 March 2017.
Mrs Webb spke of her prior teaching background in each of Chorley, Knutsford and Congleton, and of the values, standards and ethos that have both formed her and driven her. It became clear to us that present day schools and teaching methods are a million miles away from those experienced by earlier generations(us!) - because they have to be. It is now unacceptable for any child to be left behind, and yet the challenge of engaging with them in a multi-media world and ever more complex family and social environments is greater than ever - all underpinned by teachers having to experience a high degree of accountability of varying standards of efficiency. That said, it was clear to all present from Mrs Webb's exposition that teaching is still very much both a challenging and rewarding vocation.
Rtn Mike Pearce, a Governor of the school, moved the vote of thanks on behalf of us all.
