During Autumn 2014 Ysgol John Bright in Llandudno were looking to purchase a 3D printer at a cost of £1000 and approached Llandudno Rotary Club in the hope that it might be able to provide funds. The annual fireworks night collection was imminent, and it was suggested that if some manpower could be made available by the school a donation would be made. On the collection night assistance from pupils and a member of staff was provided and consequently a cheque for £500 representing half the cost was presented to the school.
As an additional bonus to the Rotary Club, pupils volunteered to help in the annual "Snowman Collection", which took place in the run up to Christmas. As a result of this connection made by Rotarian Phil Jones the school has expressed interest in other youth opportunities, in particular, Young Chef and Youth Speaks. Both of these activities will be followed up in 2015.
