The Rotary Club of Wrexham Erddig is offering a Rotary Youth Leadership Award for one person from MAELOR SCHOOL, PENLEY and another place to YSGOL MORGAN LLWYD. The successful applicants will take part in a 6 day residential Leadership and Teambuilding Event at the Outdoor Education Centre at Arthog in Gwynedd. The 6 day event will include three days of adventurous activities, including hill walking, orienteering and one of the following: mining, canoeing, climbing and abseiling. There will also be classroom based discussions and leadership exercises. Towards the end of the event there will be challenging group tasks to complete which will draw upon the skills and leadership experiences gained throughout the course.
The Rotary Club will pay the full cost of the course. However, the successful candidate will be asked to raise funds for a Rotary project through a sponsored or fundraising event either individually or through their school. After completion of the course the successful candidate will be invited to a Rotary Club meeting to report on their experience and to receive their RYLA Certificate.
