Dawn gave the club a detailed account of her travels from her birthplace in Loyalton, California to Wrexham, North Wales. Loyalton is a small town (Pop 500) in the High Sierras close to Lake Tahoe and relies on farming and logging as it's main industries. Dawn was fortunate in becoming a Rotary Exchange Student 93-94 travelling to Hinnerop in Denmark and later, after leaving High School obtaining a Rotary Scholarship to Santa Clara University, subsequently graduating with a degree in Political Science. Her post graduate studies included courses at universities in Florence, Durham and finally obtaining a MSc in European Politics from LSE, in addition to which, she speaks six European languages. There then followed a period working for the US Government as an immigration officer and in the Diplomatic Corps both in Denmark and Rumania. Dawn and her husband Colm are principals of amenity management company called Mack Trading which specialises in golf related activities in the UK and Ireland. Their arrival in Wrexham has also been heralded with the birth of their first son Leo in May.
The vote of thanks was given by Albert Ellison, who warmly welcomed Dawn into the club, as not only the first lady member in the club's history but also choosing to join Wrexham Erddig where everyone is looking forward to her company.
