An eventful evening was had at our weekly meeting on the 13th June, when speaker finder for the evening, Rotarian David Meredith Jones, introduced Laura Ellis-Williams of Marie Curie and Anwen Jacks representing the local District Nurses. Laura gave a very interesting and thought provoking talk on the work of Marie Curie and local District Nurses.
Prior to Laura's talk, a presentation of over £1,200.00, shared equally, was made to Marie Curie and District Nurses as gratitude of the work these two charities do, espacially within palative care. This money was mainly raised as a collection during the funeral of David's late wife Meiriol. Also present were David's two daughters, Hanah and Kate and son in law Chris.
Next event of the evening was, not one, but two Community Awards. Fiona Todd was awarded the award for her work with young people within Denbigh High School and John Allison was awarded for his services in keeping The Rotary Road bypass in a tidy condition.
Also welcomed to the above meeting, as a guest of Kevin, was Rotarian David Jones who, having being brought up in Tremeirchion, was on a visit back home from New Zealand, where he has settled as a succsessful farmer since a number of years.
