The 57th running of The ALL WALES ROLL THE BARREL competition took place on Saturday 26th December as usual on Denbigh High Street. Really serious torrential rain forecasts had worried us. Although the rain cleared by mid-morning, it did have an impact on attendances, but, nevertheless, a decent crowd did turn up, and were entertained to some spirited races in both the men’s, ladies and a special team race.
The vintage (and not so vintage) tractors were back by popular demand where 15 drivers braved the unwelcoming weather of the morning
There was again a good turnout by the Hunt. Riders were served a Stirrup Cup by Rotarians (prepared as always by Alwyn Thomas).
The junior RTB races were very popular this year with a record entry (possibly because of the junior races held at this year’s Denbigh Carnival and Show).
Following the departure of the Hunt, the barrel rolling started in earnest. Hotly contested, the races did not disappoint. Both the Mens and Ladies races had their share of spills, with Gareth Owen winning the mens, and Trisha Edwards Hulme the Ladies final, with our very own Gareth Foulkes and Hywel Watkin being joint winners in the team final.
Sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to the day’s success
