Young Musician Club Heat November 2012

We held the club heat of the Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland Young Musician competition at Howell's School, Denbigh on November 21st 2012.

Ten young people took part , four in the solo vocalist section and six in the solo instrumental section.

Myfanwy Tranmer of St Brigid's School was the winner in the vocalist section.

She sang three songs,

• 'Y Fwyalchen' (The Blackbird), '
• Kind Sir, you cannot have the heart' (from the Gondoliers)  
• 'I feel pretty'   from West Side Story

In the instrumental section we had one guitar, one violin, two pianos and two flutes and the winner was judged to be Daniel Latham of Denbigh High School.  His chosen pieces were

• 'River flows in you'  Yiruma
• Sonata K331 Mozart

The schools represented at this competition were

• Denbigh High School (vocalist and instrumental)
• Howell's School (instrumental)
• St Brigid's School (vocalist and instrumental)The adjudicators 

The adjudicators  were Nia Wyn Jones and Adele Thomas and we are grateful to them for their invaluable contribution to the success of the evening.  We are also grateful to Howell's School for hosting the event.

Myfanwy and Daniel will now go on to represent this club and their schools at the Rotary district final in Poulton Hall on the Wirral on Saturday February 23rd 2013.
