Club member Kevin Roberts attended the visit to the Wireless Museum and was inspired to look for a wireless set once used by the family.
This is Kevin's account.
"David Crawford's recent comprehensive account of the history of radio in Wales to the Rotary Club gave me the incentive to recover this Marconi model which had lain almost completely forgotten in the attic since the mid sixties.
I still live where I was born, I am 52 now, and I vaguely remember this set my late father's pride and joy sitting on one corner of the Welsh dresser until it was replaced by a more contemporary and less bulky radio.
It was in a dreadful, forlorn state when I brought it down on Tuesday evening (July 31st 2012) but I have since given it some attention so that it now bears some semblance to its original condition. Unfortunately, it has had a few tenants over the years who hopefully have now been evicted (woodworm!)
It would be interesting to date it - the model number is TI9A."
