A whole new year has passed again. Ally Vincent Rotary Global Scholar from Crystal River, Florida, is finishing her year hosted at the Rotary Club of Portobello after finishing her postgraduate course on 'Inclusive & Special
Education' at Edinburgh University. She was sponsored during this year by the Rotary Club of San Antonio
At fourteen years Ally was a member of her high school Interact Club engaged in various local service activities. Later she was founder and President of 'International Justice Mission' explaining global justice issues to students and lobbying government in Washington DC. She gained her BA Elementary Education at Florida's St Leo University - a small private college with 2,500 students.
Her 'service' activities continued locally and in Costa Rica and Ecuador. She became President of her university's Rotaract Club and, in her year, increased membership from five to thirty-five.
From her stay in Edinburgh all club members could confirm that Ally concentrated on 'Service Above Self' and contributed in more than many ocassions to the success of several activities of our club. It is certainly a year that we as a club we will not forget.
Tonight, in addition to our traditional Partners' Night we have a farewell arranged for her before she returns to the USA.
