Each year, the President of Abergele Rotary chooses one or more charities or good causes to receive particular support during their year in office.
These choices often reflect causes that have a personal connection to the President, while giving the Club an opportunity to raise awareness and provide practical financial support alongside our wider programme of community service.

Woody’s Lodge North Wales and Maggie’s North Wales
During Di-Ann’s year as President, Abergele Rotary is supporting Woody’s Lodge North Wales and Maggie’s North Wales.
Woody’s Lodge supports veterans, emergency service personnel and their families, while Maggie’s North Wales provides practical, emotional and social support for people affected by cancer.
The Club will support both charities through fundraising and activities during the Rotary year.

St Kentigern Hospice
During Steve’s year as President, the Club supported St Kentigern Hospice, helping raise awareness and funds for its work providing specialist palliative care and support for people and families across North Wales.

Idlewild Animal Sanctuary / Guide Dogs
Mark initially chose Idlewild Animal Sanctuary as his Presidential Charity.
Following the closure of Idlewild, the Club decided to support Guide Dogs in memory of Sidney, Abergele Rotary’s much-loved Club Mascot and member Natalie's fond companion, who sadly died from cancer.
Sidney had been a familiar and much-loved presence within the Club, and the fundraising took on a particularly special meaning: to raise enough money through Guide Dogs to name a future guide dog puppy “Sidney” in his memory.

Gig Buddies Cymru
During Mark’s year as President, Abergele Rotary supported Gig Buddies Cymru, a Learning Disability Wales project that helps people with learning disabilities and/or autism build friendships, attend gigs and events, and take part more fully in their communities.
The Presidential Charity changes from year to year, but the principle remains the same: using Rotary’s fundraising, connections and community presence to support organisations doing valuable work.
Alongside our Presidential Charities, Abergele Rotary continues to support many other local, national and international causes throughout the year.
