Ukrainian Welcome Centre

Rotarians from Crosby, Ormskirk and the Liverpool area have been hard at work at the Ukrainian Welcome Centre at Mersey Road Methodist Church.

Initially they were involved with the collection and sorting of clothes, toiletries and medical equipment, forwarded by International Aid Trust into Ukraine and neighbouring countries to help families displaced by the conflict. As the flow of refugees arriving in the UK increased, plans were agreed to develop the welcome centre further. Rooms were set aside where adults teenagers could relax and support each other.

The Rotarians applied for a grant of £1000 from their district emergency fund to help with the development of the centre which boasts a kitchen, lounge/diner, children’s playroom and a clothes bank.  Broadband and Internet access is installed to aid communications with home.
