The members of the Rotary Club of Motherwell and Wishaw, and their guests, celebrated a Taste of Scotland, a Burn’s themed evening.
As President Callan Dick was unable to attend, the evening was expertly chaired by Senior Vice President James Gibbons.
Our superb piper, Jenn Botterill, started off the evening by both piping in and giving the Address to the Haggis.
Members and their guests then enjoyed a fantastic meal prepared by the staff of the Bentley Hotel.
The excellent entertainment was provided by Jenn, who encouraged guests to join her in her piping tunes, and The Taylors, Andrew and Ros, from Dundee, who sang the music of Burns, some with a modern twist, and other Scottish composers, involving a lot of audience participation.
In his “Idea of a Modern Rabbie Burns”, James Gibbons gave a wonderfully funny speech on what the Bard would be doing here in Scotland, at the present time.
The laughs kept coming when Past President Jane Allan explained, particularly to the males present, that what a woman said did not necessarily translate into what she meant.
At the end of a most enjoyable evening, the vote of thanks was proposed by Past President Katrina Gibbons.'What We Do' Main Pages:
