Tablets provided to local nursing homes
Tablets, equipped with dementia friendly apps, are delivered to two nursing homes for the use of their residents
We are delighted that, through The Rotary Foundation, the Rotary Club of Motherwell and Wishaw are able to present two Kindle Fire Tablets each to Avondale Nursing Home, Motherwell and Hatton Lea Nursing Home in Bellshill for the use and benefit of dementia sufferers. The tablets have come with specific apps recommended by Dementia specialists. Further tablets will be given to Dementia Resource Centre, Motherwell and the Stonehouse Jubilee Club in the near future.
The tablets were delivered by our Community and Vocational Convener, Jean Murray, and our Rotary Foundation Convenor, Willie Talbot when they visited the Homes, adhering to all the necessary Covid precautions.
The Rotary Foundation (Rotary’s charity) is supported by contributions from Rotarians, Rotary Clubs, friends of the Foundation and members of the public. Those contributions, gifts and donations are transformed into service projects that change the lives of thousands of people across the world. Each year, The Rotary Foundation gives $70 million worth of grants to Rotary Clubs throughout the world for humanitarian projects, vocational training and scholarships in Rotary’s cause areas. Ranging from small-scale, short term activities to large, international projects, Rotary grants strengthen global partnerships and provide sustainable and measurable benefits to communities. Grants from The Rotary Foundation support over 1,000 projects every year.
