The guests at tonight’s meeting of the Rotary Club of Motherwell and Wishaw were Grace and Tom McNeil.
Grace is the Chairman of the Viewpark Conservation Group and she spoke about their efforts to secure funding to purchase The Douglas Support Estate at Viewpark, known to the locals as the Glen.
Grace highlighted the history of the Glen and her hope that the Estate will be preserved, and upgraded, as a natural resource for the local people and wildlife.
She said that as a condition of being awarded
A grant of some £435,000 has been awarded by the Scottish Land Fund, with the condition that the Group has to raise 5% of the amount, some £22,000. The members are very busy, with various projects, fund raising to achieve their goal.
Grace answered a number of questions put to her and David McLeod proposed the vote of thanks.
The bonus ball winner was Tom Agnew.
