Tonight the members of the Rotary Club of Motherwell and Wishaw were entertained by two pupils, from St Aidan’s High School, during our School Speakers evening.
The third year girls were introduced by English teacher, Beth McDowall, and Mirren Sullivan and Erin Campbell, who recently won the Lanarkshire Schools Public Speaking competition, which was organised by the Knights of St Colombia, gave an excellent presentation on Fake News.
Their speech was very well researched and proved that both Mirren and Erin fully understood the background to, and purpose for, Fake News, especially as used, currently in the U.S.A. by Donald Trump and various broadcasters and social media outlets.
In proposing the Vote of Thanks, Past President James Gibbons said how much the members had appreciated and enjoyed the girls’ informative, interesting and topical talk. He also thanked Ms McDowall for giving up her time to accompany the girls tonight.'What We Do' Main Pages:
