On Saturday, 3rd November, Dalziel High School P.T.A. and the Rotary Club of Motherwell and Wishaw held our first Autumn Fayre, from 10.00 to 14.00, in Dalziel High School, Crawford Street, Motherwell.
The stallholders arrived from 08.30 to set-up before we opened to the public.
Doors opened at 10.00 and, unfortunately, the weather was not on our side, the rain, for most of the morning reducing, our footfall. We charged an entry fee of £2.00, per adult, which included tea/coffee and cake. The school’s Home Economics department sold rolls and sausage to augment this.
Participation picked up over the first three hours and, between 13.00 and 14.00, things quietened down again. While the day was not as busy as we had hoped, the majority of the stallholders were pleased with sales, orders and the numbers of people taking note of their Facebook pages and e-mail addresses. A few have already signed up for next year’s Fayre.
Including booking fees from stalls, we raised almost £1,200.00 and, after expenses, just over £1,050.00 was available for distribution through the P.T.A. and Rotary Club. A successful result for our first collaboration together.
Thanks are due to Dalziel High School, in particular, our link contact, Acting D.H.T. Grant McCallum, Karen Lannigan, Chair of the P.T.A., and her members, Amy Gibbons for her assistance with the Tombola, all the Rotarians who helped in any way and, of course, the stallholders (listed below) without whom the event would not have been possible.
