Last year, John McGilp, Head Teacher of Coltness High School, who had experience of working with a Rotary Club at his previous school, raised the possibility that our Club might sponsor an Interact Club, and we readily agreed.
At the beginning of this term, John asked Ryan Early, Philip Henderson and Lauren McLeod to gauge the support that an Interact Club could have.
Following announcements at Assemblies, for all year groups, 16 pupils expressed an interest and initial meetings were held.
Building on this success, a meeting between Ryan and Philip, Youth Convenor, Roy Simpson and P.P. Bill McCallum was held and the way forward discussed. The Guide for Rotary Club Sponsors and Advisers having already been provided to the school, the Interact Club Certification Form has been completed and forwarded to Rotary International on 16th October.
The Interact Club should be chartered within four to six weeks, the charter certificate will be signed, by President James Gibbons, and will be presented on a suitable occasion, agreed with the school.
