Through the Wishwell Project between Rotary Clubs of Limbe (Malawi) and Motherwell and Wishaw
(Scotland), funding was provided to the Scotland Chikhwawa Health Initiative to undertake the
repair of non functioning boreholes of East Bank of Chikhwawa District. To ensure that the repairs
would be sustained and that the boreholes will continue to operate for years to come, these repairs
were accompanied by training of Water Point Committees within each community. These
committees will now be responsible for the maintenance and repair of the borehole, and the
training they received was aimed to ensure they are capable of raising the necessary funds for spare
parts and have the skills to undertake the work needed.
