Schools Golf Competition

Fri, Sep 7th 2012 at 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Inter School Golf Competition.
For the first time Schools from Bellshill who came under the umbrella of the former Bellshill Club join our annual schools golf competition.

The Rotary Club of Motherwell and Wishaw held its 11th annual golf competition for local secondary schools at Colville Park Golf Course at the beginning of September.  Five schools – Bellshill Academy, Clyde Valley High, Coltness High, Dalziel High and St Aidan’s High – competed for the Douglas Clementson Memorial Trophy

Douglas Clementson was a well respected Rotarian in this club.  He joined in 1979 and for many years was Sports Officer, involved in curling, golf etc.  Following his death in 2004, a trophy was donated in his memory.

This year’s winner of the trophy was the team from Dalziel High School, comprising of Calum Connacher (Capt), Ross MacNeill, Blane Pollock and Craig Connacher.

Millie Clementson, Douglas’s widow, is seen in the photograph presenting the trophy to the victorious team.  Also present are Robert Birch, Head Teacher of Dalziel High, and Club President, Ian Carrol.
