Hello and welcome to the Rotary Club of Biddulph.
We are a Local and Global Humanitarian Organisation and we give our time to help others. If you like giving your time to help others then you are in the right place.
Do you have a project that you would like help with and assistance getting done. If you do then Rotary can help you in your project. We have huge resources that can play a part in your event. We have manpower that can help you.
But what if you just want to have a look at what we are currently getting on with. Recently our Youth Committee has organised a local speaking competition, called Youth Speaks, where schools take part in, and progress to national heats. It gives our local children the confidence to learn about public speaking.
Our Community and Vocational committee gets involved with and organises events in and around the Biddulph area. Including fun runs, local concerts, Christmas lights switch on events at the Town Hall, and recently the Lights Switch-on event in Biddulph Moor Village Hall.
Our ComVoc chairman has recently been in charge of raising awareness in helping refugees from Ukraine. Hundreds of volunteer hours have been spent helping others.
We have arranged litter pics, Swimathons, walks, and many more, in and around the Biddulph area.
Every month we ask a keynote speaker to give a talk on their speciality subject.
Dave Heyhoe came and told us all about his time in Afghanistan with his was dog Treo, a black Labrador Springer Spaniel cross who was an Arms and Explosives Search dog with the Royal Army Veterinary Corps. It was an amazing talk and not a dry eye in the house.
We recently welcomed Sarah Heydon the Senior Officer from Biddulph Town Council, who explained some of the workings of local governmant.
We recently organised a trip to the local Beartown brewery, where Joe showed us all how and why his beer is made. After the tour we enjoyed some good old fellowship and had a curry supper, thanks to Mark; one of our member's catering business.
Rotary is also about helping people overseas and we are able to provide equipment to areas that are torn-apart by conflict or from natural disasters, where the ability to make fresh water becomes a basis for life. Rotary clubs in Great Britain and Ireland are proud to have supported WaterAid since 1985, raising almost £4 million in that time. Rotary is committed to a sustainable approach to sanitation and hygiene. We don’t just build wells or toilets and walk away.
