Rotary was founded over 100 years ago as a business networking club, but it’s become one of the world’s largest and most successful global membership and humanitarian service organisations, with 1.4 million members in 35,000 clubs spread over 200+ countries. There are around 1,800 clubs in Great Britain and Ireland with the Rotary Club of Clacton on Sea being one of the oldest, having received its Charter in 1928.
Rotarians come from all walks of life, but all have the same aims – to make the world a better place. Starting with our local communities we also have the ability through the Rotary International Foundation to support projects nationally and internationally. It’s about giving something back and enhancing the lives and opportunities for all, but particularly for those facing hardship or in urgent need. The Rotary motto is ‘Service before Self’
