The Club Goes On 2022

Two members have stepped forward to take on the mantle of leadership as President in the next two years.

Vacancy at the Top?  No Longer!

The club has been without a Vice-President and President-Elect since the investiture of present President Michael Ginn, but at an Extraordinary General Meeting held at the Beauvoir Arms, Downham, on Monday September 12, two nominations were received.

President-Elect

Roger Kettle, previously president 2003-4, was nominated as President-Elect - Vice President 2022-23 and President 2023-24.  Roger’s nomination was unanimously supported by club members and accordingly Roger is elected President for the next Rotary Year.

In response to his election, Roger said “It is a huge honour to accept the Presidency for next year, and I am most grateful for the support I have received from members.  I follow in the esteemed footsteps of those who have undertaken this role before.  I promise to do my very best for the club.”

President Nominee

The second nomination at the meeting was for Patrick Rothon, who had previously been President twice before - in 2004-5, and in 1986-7.  Patrick is the son of Founder Member and founder president Felix Rothon who was president in 1959-60 and again in 1960-61.  Patrick’s nomination was also unanimously supported by club members and accordingly Patrick is elected President Elect 2023-24, and subsequently President 2024-25.

In response to his election, Patrick said “I thank all members for the trust they are putting in me, and promise to do my best on their behalf to keep the club’s excellent reputation in the years ahead.”

“It is particularly poignant for me because I will be president exactly 65 years after my father helped found the club (with present founder member Ben Clarke) and was its first President.”
