Kirkcudbright celebrates 70 years of Rotary

Th Rotary Club of Kirkcudbright celebrates 70 years of service to the community.

GG's Yard Laggan Gatehouse of Fleet was the venue earlier this year where 180 guests came along to an evening dinner to celebrate 70 years of Rotary service in our community.

A musical welcome from 2 Kirkcudbright Academy pupils, Euan on the pipes and Erin on the piano was a perfect start to arrival drinks and canapes.

Proceedings commenced with Club Secretary Gavin Scott giving a roll call of the 10 clubs in our district who attended, followed by welcoming remarks from Kirkcudbright Rotary Club President, Gordon Cowan. District Governor Agnes Ritchie brought greetings from the wider Rotary world and presented Maurice Halliday with a Citation for Meritorious Service to Rotary Foundation.

The Toast was given by Honorary member Willie Henry with The Response from Rt. Hon. James Wolffe Q.C. Lord Advocate.

The Master of Ceremonies for the evening was Rotarian Mike DUguid and the Vote of Thanks was given by Anne Shackleton.

The feedback suggests this was a very successful event, enjoyed by fellow Rotarians and guests from all over the region, in recognition of the proud record  Kirkcudbright Rotary Club has achieved in fundraising for community and overseas projects over the years.
