Youth Speaks 2018-2019

Six local schools took part in the 26th annual local round of Youth Speaks, hosted this year by Truro Prep School, last year's winners. The event was well attended by teachers, parents, and grandparents.

We were delighted to be able to use the school's new assembly hall, and are grateful to them for the excellent arrangements.

Yet again, the standard of the presentations was very high, the subjects chosen topical and engaging. The winners were Polwhele House School for the second time in the last three years and in the twenty six years of the event. Truro Prep School took second place.

Polwhele House went on to win the western area round in Penzance, and came second of eleven teams in the District Final at Saltash on 16 March. Their presentation, "Why do we have to grow up?", was kept fresh,  adding a slight twist on each occasion. A further success was scored by their Chairman, Eliza, who was declared the best Chairman of the day, and was presented with a commemorative plaque.
