Young Writer Competition 2022-23

Information on the Rotary Young Writer competition

Theme - "Peace"

The theme for our competition this year is “Peace”

Pupils are asked to produce a piece of fiction or non-fiction/story or poem, relating to this theme. It should be up to 550 words long or one side of an A4 sheet.

There are 3 age groups:- Junior [< 10 years], Intermediate [11-13 years] and Senior [14-17 years].

If your Club wishes to enter any pupils, please inform Jackie Grigor by email, no later than Friday 7th October 2022.

Individual clubs can decide the submission dates for their local Heats, but please note that winning entries from the club heats should be submitted for the District stage to me no later than Friday 27th January 2023.

This will allow sufficient time for judging before submission to the National Finals by Monday, 27th March 2023.

Please note that winning submissions from the District stage to the National Finals are required to be in electronic form – but it would also help me enormously if pupils’ pieces of writing could be emailed to me in electronic form.

If the pupil’s submission is already typed, it can be forwarded to me by email as a Word document.

If it’s just hand-written on A4 sheets, could you or the school scan it, and send it to me as a PDF or jpeg attachment please. In this way I can forward the submissions to the 2 judges electronically and don’t have to scan and/or physically photocopy every submission x3 [a total of 30-50 A4 sheets!].
