Rotary Beds, Bucks and Herts are proud to host four Global Grants Scholars from September, 2017 through to August, 2018.

2017-18 Schloars

These are the four Global Grants Scholars who are being hosted by our District 1260 from September, 2017 through to August, 2018. They are available to visit Rotary Clubs throughout their study year, and this facility is part of their Grant Terms and Conditions. You have options. Invite one Scholar along to your club meeting, or it might be worth considering organising a Scholars Evening and invite two  along together. It costs nothing for  our District and Clubs to ‘host’ these terrific young professional and ambitious students. (Except perhaps an evening meal.) All you have to do is contact the appropriate scholars host councillor  listed below by phone, text or e.mail and arrange mutually agreeable days/ dates. Global Grant Scholars  must carry out between six and ten Rotary Club presentations during their study year, so please take advantage of the opportunities. Thanks in anticipation of your support. If you have any queries, or need help or advice, please get in touch with me.

The Scholars will be available from around mid-October onwards. Please take advantage of their availability.

2016-2017 Scholars

The nine 2016/17 Global Grant Scholars which the District has been hosting are now coming to the end of their studies at London universities. They have already started going their separate ways and their integration and participation within the district has been outstanding, as has that of many of the Rotary Clubs within the District. The Scholars have  visited around thirty five Rotary Clubs and have collectively given more than seventy presentations, which is a magnificent achievement.

    • Crystal Nwosu (Baldock) has gone to Grenada to continue her studies and hopes to return to the UK to study for a further two years.
    • Grace Petrie (Amersham) has returned to New York to study/ work.
    • Jordan Delorenzo (Hatfield) has landed a job in Iraq.
    • Jourdan McGinn (Newport Pagnell) will shortly be going to work in Freetown, Sierra Leone.
    • Lusine Mehrabyan (Letchworth Garden City) has graduated and is hoping to stay to work in London.
    • Ben Tidwell, (Ware) Wyatt Hoffman (Hemel Hempstead) and Brenna McCallick (Luton Someries) have all completed their courses successfully and will be looking for new challenges, no doubt.
    • Chelsea Phipps (Winslow) is staying to study for a further year. She is currently, I understand, working short term in London for the Bill and Melanie Gates Foundation.

My sincere thanks to all the clubs, Host Councillors and grant committees who have helped in any way to make this year with the Scholars so successful.
