A musical treat this Saturday (21 October) as West Wales celebrates the double centenaries of Rotary Foundation and Rotary in Wales with a concert at the great venue of Ysgol Bro Dinefwr, Llandeilo. Sadly Wynne Evans is unwell and is unlikely to be appearing as billed.

Kees Huysmans is among the soloists appearing.  Born in the Netherlands, Kees came to live in Wales in 1981. He now speaks Welsh and as singer has won the Bass solo competition in the National Eisteddfod on three occasions and also won the coveted Rhuban Glas in Abergavenny Eisteddfod.  Other soloists are Rhydin Tiddy, Megan Jones, Teah Ross, Bethan Evans and Cerys Bowen.

The concert also features the massed and individual male voice choirs of Cwmann a’r Cylch, Dinefwr, Dyffryn Tywi, Llandybie and Llanymyddyfri.

Six West Wales Choirs will be taking part resulting in a choir of some 150 voices to produce a wonderful sound worthy of this Centenary event.A large scale concert of male voice choirs, each representing our Rotary area 1 clubs, is planned to mark the biennial Voices for Hospice event on Saturday 21 October 2017 @ 7 pm, in Ysgol Bro Dinefwr Llandeilo, a new school with superb concert hall and excellent facilities. The event will also be part of Rotary Foundation centenary and Rotary International in Wales celebrations in our area.

I am delighted to confirm that six of our local choirs will be participating, resulting in a massed choir of some 150 choristers, which will produce a wonderful sound, worthy of the event!

Rotary clubs and associated choirs invited to be involved include Carmarthen, Carmarthen Tywi, Llandeilo, Llandovery, Lampeter, Aberwstwyth and Aberaeron Certain choirs will perform one solo item and then combine to sing popular selections, some with audience participation. High calibre soloists have been invited to join us for the evening. The proposed programme is on the attached page President for the event will be Brian Jones of Castell Howell, himself a Paul Harris Fellow, and trustee of Ty Cymorth, the Carmarthen based hospice which he and many local Rotary clubs have supported for many years and which will benefit from this concert. Brian is also President of the Royal Welsh Show this year, therefore the concert will also make a contribution to the Royal Welsh Show.

Programme selection has been refined to produce a varied concert in support of this year's 'Sing for Hospices' and to celebrate our Rotary Centenaries. Please diarise and publicise as widely as possible throughout the area
