Bolton News Article about the Mealpack

The Rotary Club of Bolton Lever  and Rise Against Hunger  are joining forces in the fight against hunger. More than 200 volunteers, Rotarians and community groups will pack 50,0000 meals for the world’s hungry on 14th April at Sharples School, Bolton.

Rise Against Hunger meal packing events are  volunteer based programmes that package highly nutritious dehydrated meals, comprised of rice, soya, vegetables and 23 essential vitamins and minerals.

This will be the 3rd Rotary sponsored Rise Against Hunger meal packing event in the North West. Of England. It builds upon the success of the previous meal packs in Warrington and  at  the Rotary in Great Britain and Ireland conference  in Manchester.

Rise Against Hunger gets food and life-saving aid to the world’s most vulnerable people, and works to end global hunger in our lifetime. Established in 1998, they have provided over 225 million meals in 73 countries.

For more information visit the Rise Against Hunger Website

The Bolton event will help meet the Rotary in GBI goal of distributing 1 million meal packs over the next 2 years.

How to get involved

The meal packing will take place on Saturday 14th April 2018. We need pledges of  either

· volunteers to cover 2 or 4 hour packing shifts.

· Or  donations

Each attendee is asked to bring a food item (like  tinned beans, tineed / packet soup, pasta etc) for distribution to local food banks within our district.

We would welcome involvement from Rotary Clubs in the North West and can come and talk to your club about how to get involved.

This is an ideal team building event for local businesses, with employees who want to get involved in a hands on humanitarian project. Donations can be made via our BT mydonate event page

The event is open to volunteers from Church groups, Youth organisations,  Community groups, Clubs and Service organisations. Individual volunteers and family groups are also very welcome to join us

This family friendly event is open to volunteers of all ages. Children are welcome, (age 5 and above) when accompanied by an adult.
