Tree of Light 2017 Switch On - 5.00pm Sainsbury's, Oswestry - Community Carol Singing & Bucket Collection

The Rotary Club of Oswestry's Tree of Light Appeal has become a firm fixture in the Club's calendar since its inception over a dozen years ago.

Whilst raising money for local charities and good causes, the Appeal allows members of the public to donate, or 'sponsor a light bulb', in remembrance of a loved one or, perhaps, thanks for a joyous occasion such as a birth or wedding.

Donation forms may be picked up from Sainsbury's store after the Switch On or downloaded below:

The totem for the Appeal is the large Christmas tree sited in front of Sainsbury's store in Oswestry where the Appeal is launched each year when the lights are switched on in a ceremony accompanied by community carol singing lead by one of our local bands.  A Book of Remembrance is kept in Sainsbury's during the Appeal and afterwards moved to Oswestry Library.

This year, on the 25th November from 4.30pm until 5.00pm the Porthywaen Silver Band will be playing carols before the lights are switched on at 5.00pm.

With support from generous local business sponsors and, of course, the general public, the Appeal now raises over £6,000 each year which all benefits local charities.

The Rotary Club of Oswestry is grateful for the support of all our sponsors who make this event possible.
